My Rights

Every child in the world from birth to 18 has rights. Rights are what you should have or be able to do to survive, thrive and meet your full potential. All rights are equally important and are connected to each other. You are born with these rights, and no one can take them away.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out these rights in 54 articles and in a set of Optional Protocols. A convention is an agreement between countries to obey the same law.
Here are some rights related to your use of digital technology.

Malaysia agreed to obey (ratified) the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1995, five years after it was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1989. That means our government now has to make sure that every child has all the rights in the Convention, except the five they have reservations on.
